I am pretty picky when it comes to hotels. I love nice looking hotels with fluffy, comfortable beds. So, when my husband and I arrived at the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square Hotel in Cleveland, OH, I was VERY excited! This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It has a fun flatiron shape and is located in Cleveland’s vibrant theatre district, which means we were in a fantastic area of the city.
We were within walking distance of 10 theater spaces, a casino, restaurants, the Cleveland Browns and Indians stadiums, and bars.
I always want to be in the middle of things when we travel so we don’t have to drive anywhere, so I was really excited to see all of the fun things so close to us, especially since I had no idea there were so many theater spaces in the area! It’s so neat to have so many options for shows, from touring Broadway performances to comedy shows, right by where you’re staying.
The Wyndham recently underwent a multi million dollar renovation, and it is simply gorgeous. I was amazed from the minute we walked in. The lobby is beautiful, which is always a sign of a great hotel to me, and I couldn’t wait to see our room. I wasn’t disappointed! We had a beautiful 2-room suite that overlooked Lake Erie. Seriously, how much better does a room with a view get than when you’re overlooking one of the Great Lakes?! Talk about breathtaking.
Another major aspect to me at a hotel is the staff. I’ve heard horror stories from friends who had issues with their rooms and had to make several calls to the front desk to finally get an employee to respond. So, when we had a problem with the toilet in our room, I was a little nervous. But, you know what? When we got back to our 10th floor room (we went down to the front desk to let them know about the problem), a maintenance employee was already there waiting for us! Talk about service. I was VERY impressed.
Our suite had one room with a fabulous TV and couch for relaxing. The second room, our bedroom, had a desk, smart chair and TV. And, of course, one of the most fabulous beds I have ever slept in. It was like sleeping on a cloud. I probably could have just laid there all weekend, so it was nice to be able to sleep in since we were childless for the weekend. I always seem to have the best sleep when we stay in a hotel! We even stayed in one night and watched an in room movie! They have movie’s that are still in theater, it was pretty awesome! And we enjoyed some local snacks that were delivered to our room. It really topped of the night.
The Wyndam has its own restaurant, Encore Restaurant and Blue Bar, that serves an amazing breakfast buffet. Chef Dell makes made-to-order omelets and, boy, are they delicious! I was totally spoiled!
Encore Restaurant offers an array of menu options including Ohio City Portabella and Fontina Angolotti or Pan Seared Georges Bank Scallops. When we dined there for dinner, I tried the Pecan Crusted Chicken (which was AMAZING), and my husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak. We both enjoyed sides of the most delicious whipped mashed potatoes I have ever had. Our meal was SO good! And, we topped it off with a Creme Brule that was to die for! Encore Restaurant has totally ruined other establishments for me now!
In addition to Encore Restaurant and Blue Bar, the hotel has a fabulous pool and hot tub, an exercise room, meeting space and rooms that are perfect for weddings and receptions!
Would I go back to the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square Hotel? You bet. It’s worth every penny. It’s going to be hard for another hotel to top this one!
